Virat Kohli. (Source - Twitter/X) India's cricket icon Virat Kohli has announced his retirement from T20 International cricket following a historic victory in the T20 World Cup 2024. The announcement came moments after India defeated South Africa in an exciting final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, ending their 11-year ICC trophy drought. The T20 World Cup 2024 final on June 29 saw India facing South Africa with India batting first and posting a formidable total of 176/7, setting the highest score in a T20 World Cup final. Kohli's masterful innings of 76 runs off 59 balls proved crucial in India's victory, as they successfully defended their total, restricting South Africa to 169/8. "This was my last t20 World Cup, and this is what we wanted to achieve. One day you feel you can't get a run, then things happen. God is great, and I got the job done for the team on the day it mattered. Now or never, last T20 for India wanted to make the most of it. Wanted to

(Source - Getty Images) A recent player survey by the World Cricketers Association (WCA), formerly named FICA, has revealed a significant shift in the perceived importance of ICC events. The T20 World Cup is closing the gap with the ODI World Cup as the "most important" event among players worldwide, marking a notable change from previous years. Back in 2019, a staggering 85 percent of players considered the 50-over World Cup the most important, with only 15 percent favoring the T20 World Cup. Fast forward to 2024, and those numbers have changed dramatically. Now, 50 percent of players still regard the ODI World Cup as the top event, but 35 percent now favour the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the USA and West Indies, will conclude with a highly anticipated final between India and South Africa in Barbados on Saturday. The survey also highlighted a generational shift in preferences. For pl

Virat Kohli has a great chance to become hero in final of T20 World Cup 2024: Mohammad Kaif

Virat Kohli (Source :Twitter ) The stage is all set for the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup. Team India will be facing South Africa in the summit clash of the tournament at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday, June 29 for a shot at glory and the title.  As the clash approaches, India will be feeling quite confident about every aspect of their game but one, and that is the form of ace batter Virat Kohli. The veteran opened the innings for India in the T20 World Cup and has been unable to make a difference with the bat.  Seeing his form, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif came forward and backed Kohli to go big in the final. Kaif compared Kohli’s campaign to that of MS Dhoni’s in the 2011 ODI World Cup, where Dhoni, who was out of form the entire tournament, played a brilliant knock in the final.  "Virat Kohli needs to remember that even Dhoni didn't have a great World Cup in 2011, but he found form in the final. Small suggestion: He is too good a

Rohit Sharma. (Photo Sourcee: Disney+Hotstar) Team India reached the summit clash of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, defeating England in the semi-final 2 of the tournament. The side will be facing South Africa for a shot at the title at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday, June 29.  Ahead of the clash, the Indian team will be quite confident. However, the only aspect of worry for the side would be the form of ace batter Virat Kohli. The 35-year-old has been unable to perform in the tournament. In seven innings, Kohli has scored 75 runs at an average of 10.71 and a strike rate of 100. Despite his subpar form in the World Cup, India skipper Rohit Sharma has come forward and backed Kohli to be at his best in the summit clash of the tournament. Rohit confirmed Kohli’s place in the playing XI for the final and also stated that after one has played for 15 years, form does not matter. “Look he is a quality player, any player can go through that (lack of form). T20 World Cup 2024: India vs England, Semi-Final 2 - Who Said What?

Team India (Source : Twitter ) India thrashed England by 68 runs to qualify for the finals of the T20 World Cup 2024 . They were head and shoulders above the Three Lions in the second semi-final in Guyana and will now play South Africa in the final of the competition on June 29 in Barbados.  After winning the toss, England skipper Jos Buttler decided to bowl first while Rohit Sharma revealed that he was happy to bat first. The skipper once again led from the front as he smashed 57 runs off 39 deliveries. He gave the perfect platform for the middle order batters to capitalize and Suryakumar Yadav did exactly that. The Mumbai cricketer hit 47 runs off 36 deliveries while Hardik Pandya made 23 runs off 13 balls as India posted 171 runs on the board in the first innings. It looked enough at the halfway stage but the bowlers made it ridiculously easy in the end. Axar Patel had a phenomenal night with the ball, picking up three wickets with the ball in the powerplay. (Photo Source: Philip Brown/Popperfoto/Popperfoto via Getty Images) South Africa's resplendent nine-wicket victory over Afghanistan secured their place in the T20 World Cup final for the first time in history, leaving the team elated with their triumph. In stark contrast, the Afghan side was left devastated, heartbroken by their thwarted ambition to reach their first ICC event final. Rashid Khan and his team’s decision to bat first ultimately proved regrettable as they were shot out for a mere 56 runs. However, it wasn’t a case of brash underperformance on the day, nerves, or poor batting throughout the tournament. Instead, the pitch played a significant role, presenting conditions that the Afghan team found insurmountable, causing their lineup to collapse like a house of cards. Head coach of Afghanistan, Jonathan Trott, had his share of grievances, which he voiced candidly after the match. He began with a disclaimer, stating he didn't wan

"See, we want to treat this game as another game that we have played in this tournament," he said on the eve of the match, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo. "We don't want to think about what lies ahead and what is the context of the game and all of that. Everyone knows in the back of their mind it's a semi-final. But you don't want to keep talking about it again and again and again. And not to think about what has happened in the past." Guyana's Providence Stadium. (Source - Twitter/X) The stage is set for Semi-Final 2 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Two giants of world cricket, England and India, will lock horns for a place in the summit clash of the mega event at the Providence Stadium, Guyana, on Thursday, June 27. England have had a roller coaster season in the World Cup so far. Barely making it into the Super Eights stage of the tournament, the Jos Buttler-led side quickly picked up their form and put in excellent performances to reach the semis of the tournament. The side finished in second place in Group 2 of the Super Eight stage, just behind South Africa, who have reached the summit clash. On the other hand, Team India have had a near flawless tournament in the T20 World Cup 2024 so far, staying unbeaten throughout the group stage and the Super Eights stages as well. The Men in Blue are considered one of the biggest favourites for the title and will be looking to go all the way. Check Here: T20

Marco Jansen. (Photo Source: Matthew Lewis-ICC/ICC via Getty Images) Afghanistan were denied of a place in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, as South Africa squared off against them in the first semi-final of the tournament at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad on Thursday, June 27. Rashid Khan's decision to bat first backfired horrendously, as the South African pacers took off from the get-go. In the first over itself, in-form Afghan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz gave his wicket to Marco Jansen (3-0-16-3). Then on, things only went further south for the Blue Tigers, as they had lost half the side at the score of 23. Needless strokes and lack of match situation awareness by the lower-middle order caused a few more wickets, as they were in no mood to lolly gag in the middle. One batter followed another, and on the fifth ball of the 12th over, the final nail in the coffin was hammered by Tabraiz Shamsi , to set his side a target of 57 in the penultimate clash. Considering the ta

Despite being drawn against some of the toughest teams in world cricket, Afghanistan still managed to reach the Super Eight stage of the tournament and followed it up by eliminating the mighty Australia to reach the semi-finals.  As news of Afghanistan reaching the knockouts echoed around, the country went into a state of euphoria. Following the side’s clash against Bangladesh, which confirmed their place in the semis, huge groups of people filled the streets of the country, especially in Kabul, the capital.  Thousands of people also swarmed onto the streets of Nangarhar, the province from which skipper Rashid Khan hails. Furthermore, large screens were installed in intersections in Jalalabad as crowds gathered to watch the games.  A former employee of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), Hikmat Hasan, came forward to express how incredible the reactio

Team India. (Source - Getty Images) In a must-win game, Australia suffered a heart-breaking 24-run defeat against India, which pushed them towards elimination. Mathematically, the Mitchell Marsh-led side is still alive, as they need Bangladesh to win against Afghanistan on June 25. If it doesn’t happen according to the plan, Australia will be flying back home. Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first in St Lucia. Josh Hazlewood picked up the wicket of Virat Kohli early, which put India under some pressure but skipper Rohit Sharma was terrific as he played a blistering knock of 92 runs off 41 deliveries. He helped India start well with the ball and capitalize on the conditions as based on his innings, India posted 205 runs in the first innings. Suryakumar Yadav played a good cameo of 31 runs off 16 deliveries while Hardik Pandya hit 27* runs off 17 balls. Chasing 206 wasn’t easy and especially when Australia lost the wicket of David Warner in the first over of the game. H

Virat Kohli. (Source - Getty Images) Whenever there is a discussion about the greatest batters of all time in cricket, the name of Virat Kohli is taken inevitably. The 35-year-old has garnered fans all across the globe with his exceptional performances, both internationally and in franchise cricket as well.  Considered one of the biggest athletes in the world, Kohli is often put in comparison with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Notably, Kohli is rapidly approaching Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries in international cricket. The star batter has 80 centuries to his name. Recently, Kohli broke Tendulkar’s record of most ODI hundreds (49) as he registered his 50th century against New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023. Given his consistent performances over the years, the former West Indies cricketer Curtly Ambrose has put Kohli in the same bracket as Tendulkar and former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting.  “Virat Kohli, the great man, someone who I admire as well, I love watching

Beausejour Stadium. (Source - Getty Images) All eyes have now shifted to the game between the two giant cricketing nations as Australia takes on India at Beausejour Stadium in Saint Lucia on Monday. India have been on the hunt to take their revenge for the World Test Championship final and the ODI World Cup final loss in 2023. They would be hoping that the change in a year can help them knock Australia out of the tournament with a win tomorrow.  India are still unbeaten in the tournament with five wins and one no-result and possesses a world-class squad on paper. On the other hand, Australia are coming into the game on the back of a heartbreaking defeat against Afghanistan, which has put their qualification hopes to a serious halt.  Even if Australia wins tomorrow, that would not secure them a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. They would need Bangladesh to beat Afghanistan or Afghanistan to win by a small margin so that they can qualify based on NRR. But India is certai

England vs USA. (Source - Getty Images) In a captivating game at the Bridgetown in Barbados, England thumped the United States of America as they completed the run chase inside 9.4 overs. This win has also ensured them a spot in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024.  The defending champions won the toss and opted to bowl first in a bid to hunt down the total in the second innings. The bowlers lived up to the expectations of the team and their skipper as they were able to restrict the United States of America to just 115 on the scoreboard. The key thing throughout the first innings was that the England bowlers kept chipping away with wickets and did not let any batter settle at the crease for long. Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid were the stars of the show with the ball in the first innings. The former was able to notch up a hat-trick as he nipped out the final three batters of the opposition. On the other hand, Rashid was back to his usual best as he gave away just 13 runs and

India team ( Source : Twitter ) India registered a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in, Antigua. The Rohit Sharma-led side ticked all three boxes and are on the verge of qualifying for the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. They have been clinical with both bat and ball as the Bangla Tigers looked clueless most of the time and were 50 runs short in the end. Batting first, the dynamic duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli gave India a very good start. The skipper played an aggressive brand of cricket while Kohli played the role of an anchor as they built a partnership of 39 runs. After Rohit’s dismissal in the fourth over, Kohli took control of the situation and made 37 runs off 28 runs. After which, India lost two back-to-back wickets, which put the Men in Blue under some pressure. Rishabh Pant took over from there and made 36 runs off 24 balls. After his dismissal, the Hardik Pandya show began. The star all-rounder did not take much

(Photo Source: Alex Davidson-ICC/ICC via Getty Images) Team India’s batting coach, Vikram Rathour, has come forward and admitted that he is not happy with ace batter Virat Kohli’s performances in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Team India is currently unbeaten in the World Cup, but Kohli’s form in the marquee event has been a worrying aspect for the side.  In the four games that Kohli has played in T20 WC so far, the star batter has scored 29 runs at an average of 7.25 runs. Despite the Men in Blue registering a dominant win against Afghanistan in their first Super Eight clash, Kohli once again failed to impress as he scored 24 runs in just as many deliveries.  Ahead of India’s second Super Eight clash against Bangladesh, Rathour talked about  Kohli’ s struggle with the bat but opined that it is good for the star batter to be challenged sometimes.  "I'm not happy. Rashid Khan (Source : Getty Images ) In a brilliant clash at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, India emerged victorious against Afghanistan by 47 runs in their opening match of the Super Eight stage of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. The star of the show was Suryakumar Yadav, whose impressive innings and strategic approach against Afghanistan's ace spinner Rashid Khan proved crucial in India's win. India, after a shaky start, found themselves in a tricky position at 90/4 after 11 overs. The Afghan spinners, particularly skipper Khan, were increasing the pressure on the Indian batting lineup. It was at this point that Suryakumar partnered up with Hardik Pandya to guide the Men in Blue to a comfortable position. "When Hardik came into bat, I told him we need to bat with the same intent, let's not leave it too much till the end. It would've been difficult with the ball reversing. Rohit Sharma opted to bat first after winning the toss but India got off to a poor start as they lost their captain in the third over. Shivam Dube perished soon after and India were in a spot of bother at 90/4. Rashid Khan was in the middle of a fine spell as he took three quick wickets but Suryakumar Yadav didn't allow Afghanistan to boss the game at any stage. He stitched an invaluable 60-run partnership off 37 balls with Hardik Pandya to set India up for a blistering finish. Suryakumar departed in the 17th over after scoring 53 off 28 balls. Hardik was a
