Sunil Gavaskar has expressed disappointment over India's slip catching in second Test against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. On Day 3, Litton Das, who top-scored for the hosts in the second innings with 73, was dropped twice in the slips by Virat Kohli, although both were tough chances.

The first drop by Kohli was off left-arm spinner Axar Patel while the second one was off senior off-spinner R Ashwin. Meanwhile, Gavaskar also explained the areas where the Indian team is erring at when it comes to slip fielding.

They stand too upright with hands on knees: Sunil Gavskar

“They stand too upright with hands on knees. It's surprising that their coach is Rahul Dravid, who is probably the only Indian with more than 200 catches and a great catcher,” said Gavaskar on air.

It was because of such fielding lapses that Bangladesh eventually ended up posting 231 to set India a target of 145 on a seemingly turning track. The visitors got off to a disastrous start and skipper KL Rahul was the first one to be dismissed by his opposite number Shakib Al Hasan for two.

The Bangladesh spinners then ran through the Indian top-order and it was courtesy of night watchman Axar’s unbeaten 26 that India ended the day’s play at 45/4. When play resumed on Day 4, Axar managed to add only eight more to his overnight score before being bowled by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

At one point Bangladesh looked on the verge of pulling off a win, having reduced India to 74/7. But Shreyas Iyer (29*) and Ashwin (42*) helped India get past the finish line by three wickets with an unbeaten 71-run eighth wicket stand. With the victory, India clinched the two-match Test series, 2-0, having won the first Test in Cahttogram by 188 runs.
