The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee has taken the initiative of improving the environment of their office premises and as per reports, the national cricket board has already recommended to start an education program for the employees.
The report further adds that the initiative has been taken in the wake of four serious incidents in the last few years, with one of them being an incident related to the harassment of a female board official by a Pakistan Junior League (PJL) player.
However, according to Cricket Pakistan, the female official was forced to withdraw her complaint when the matter was casually taken by the accused player’s team coach and the board officials.
PCB looking to address employee issues at the workplace
Apart from this, there have been a few instances of the PCB employees allegedly being found guilty of organisational misconduct in the past. Last year, a former PCB commercial director was accused of workplace harassment, but he got a clean chit after the investigation. He later resigned on his own terms.
Further, some top level PCB officials have also been accused of using profane language in office. Last year, a curator had alleged that he was abused by Director Cricket Zakir Khan and Senior Manager HR Waqas Malik. The complainant added that the defamatory behaviour affected him to such an extent that he had to spend several days in the hospital before resigning from his job.
The recent incident features Director Media Sami ul Hasan Burney who was accused by the current Director of Commercial Usman Waheed of using profane language. With Najam Sethi at the helm of affairs as the PCB Chairman, it has been reported that he and his management committee will be adopting a Zero Tolerance Policy on disciplinary issues and those guilty will be severely punished. Notably, Sethi had succeeded Ramiz Raja as the PCB chief earlier this week.
