Rain still remains to be a huge threat as India gears up to challenge Pakistan in their first game of the T20 World Cup 2022 on October 23 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. Now, despite chances of a potential rain-marred affair, Indian captain Rohit Sharma is prepared for whatever comes their way.

The team isn’t unaware of multiple possibilities, as they recently played an eight-over match against Australia in Nagpur. Based on the conditions, Rohit Sharma played an extra batter and also their approach in the game was very much different. Courtesy of which, they defeated Australia and made a strong comeback into the series. Now, given the history, the 35-year-old remains confident ahead of an unpredictable future.

“We have to be prepared for whatever comes our way. These things are not in our hands. We will come thinking that it is a 40-over match and if not then we are ready for even a 20-over match,” said the Indian captain on the eve of their clash against Pakistan.

The opener also confirmed that all the 15-players are ready and available for their match against the Men in Green. Team India had to deal with a lot of injuries in the build-up to the T20 World Cup and thus, having all the players available for selection is a positive sign for them.

He is very much ready: Rohit Sharma on Mohammed Shami

Talking about injuries, Jasprit Bumrah will be very much missed by the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. However, with the reinforcement in the form of Mohammed Shami, India are confident of their chances in the multi-nation tournament.

Returning back after a long time, the 32-year-old looked magnificent in the only over he bowled in the warm-up match against Australia and the Indian captain has confirmed that the pacer indeed is ready for the clash.

“Shami has so much experience. When Bumrah was injured we wanted to have someone experienced. We know he is very good with the new ball. We wanted to give him an old ball and throw a challenge at him. He is very much ready,” said Rohit in the press conference ahead of their first match in the tournament.
