Former Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane will make his Test commentary debut on Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV during India's tour of Sri Lanka, with coverage beginning on August 15, 2026. The two-Test series marks Rahane's first assignment in the commentary box after a first-class career spanning nearly 18 years.
Rahane, a former India captain, represented the country in 85 Tests, scoring 5,077 runs with 12 centuries and 26 half-centuries. He will now offer his perspective on the format from behind the microphone rather than at the crease.

Rahane's move into commentary comes after he concluded a long and decorated career in red-ball cricket. Having captained India in Tests and accumulated more than 5,000 runs in the format, he brings direct experience of the pressures and decisions that shape a Test match.

Test cricket is the pinnacle of our sport, and having represented India in the format for so many years, it is a privilege to now look at the game from a different perspective. Sony Sports Network confirmed Rahane's inclusion in their commentary panel for the India-Sri Lanka series. The broadcaster will air the two-Test series on Sony Sports Network and stream it on Sony LIV from August 15, 2026.
