For their upcoming T20I series against Australia, England will be without the services of their white-ball skipper, Jos Buttler. The star batter has been ruled out of the series due to a calf injury. The 33-year-old missed The Hundred 2024 due to the injury, and it remains to be seen whether he would be available for the ODI series against the Aussies.

After it was confirmed that Buttler will be missing the T20I series against Australia, the star player took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the same as well.

"Frustrating to have a setback with the injury but working hard to get it right,” Buttler wrote on his Instagram story. It is worth noting that the last game that Buttler played was at the 2024 T20 World Cup, where England were eliminated by eventual champions India in the semi-finals. Scoring 214 runs across seven innings, Buttler was the highest run getter for England in the tournament.

His services in the T20I series against Australia will be heavily missed, but England will hope to make the most out of the batters present with them in the lineup.

As for his replacement, all-rounder Jamie Overton was named in the squad. For the series, England will be under the interim coaching of former opener Marcus Trescothick.

Recently, England’s Test head coach Brendon McCullum was named the white-ball coach as well, but he is expected to take charge of the side from 2025. The series between England and Australia will take place from September 11, with the third T20I scheduled for September 15.

England Men's T20I Squad: Phil Salt, Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Jordan Cox, Sam Curran, Josh Hull, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, Dan Mousley, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley, John Turner.
