Sunrisers Hyderabad once again put in an extraordinary performance in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League). Taking on Lucknow Super Giants in their recent clash, both sides locked horns at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in the 57th game of the tournament on Wednesday, May 8.
The clash began with LSG batting first, posting a total of 165 runs in the first innings, and aiming to chase down the target, Hyderabad did it easily. Losing no wickets, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma propelled their side to a win in just 9.4 overs.
It is worth noting that while LSG were batting, the pitch seemed on the slower side. However, it looked like a completely different surface with the way SRH batted. After the game, SRH skipper Pat Cummins was jokingly asked about changing the pitch midway through the clash.
"Maybe Travis and Abhishek did. We just let them go; they are two guys who are very positive and I'm a bowler, it is tough for me to give them any inputs," Cummins was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.
The star skipper also heaped praise on Travis Head’s knock, who scored 89* runs in 30 deliveries. “He's been like this for 2 years, he hits the tough areas, hits the middle a lot, might not be super conventional," Cummins said.
The boys have had a fantastic season: Cummins
Furthermore, Cummins talked about how the par-scores in T20 cricket have gone up significantly, and that it has been tough to keep up against the batters. He also lauded his side’s ability to finish a run chase within the first 10 overs of the game.
"I think the scores have gone up, and when the wickets are good, it is tough to come up with answers against batters when they get going. The boys have had a fantastic season, but to win this with less than 10 overs played is unreal," Cummins said.
