'His career has been fast-tracked' - Tom Moody heaps praise on Abhishek Sharma following sensational show against LSG

Former Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody recently came forward and lauded the performance of youngster Abhishek Sharma for his rise through the ranks in the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024. Recently, Abhishek Sharma put in a brilliant showing in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants. 

It is worth noting that the partnership that Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma built in their clash against LSG was their third 100-plus opening stand of the season.

Scoring 75* runs in 28 deliveries, Abhishek helped SRH chase down a target of 167 runs in just 9.4 overs, winning the game by 10 wickets. His performance certainly impressed Tom Moody, who opined that it is in the franchise’s DNA to dominate opponents like that. 

"It's part of their DNA. Abhishek Sharma, is a young emerging Indian player and an incredibly exciting player to have worked alongside Travis Head, who is at top of his game, be it international cricket or IPL in all formats. His career has been fast-tracked at million miles an hour," Moody was quoted as saying by IndiaToday. 

He is coming into this IPL with incredibly good domestic season: Moody

Moody also heaped praise on Abhishek for his brilliant form in domestic cricket and carrying that same form in the IPL. Branding the 23-year-old as a natural striker of the ball and how the star opener is repaying the trust that the franchise has put in him over the years. 

"He is coming into this IPL with incredibly good domestic season. A successful one with Punjab so he is coming in-form. He has experienced IPL cricket for a number of years now he is a young emerging player,” Moody said.

"He is embracing IPL cricket, he is embracing the partnership he got with Travis Head. He is embracing the way the management has set the tone with how they wanna play. So, he is complimenting his game. He is a natural ball-striker, he is not doing anything extra-ordinary. He likes to hit sixes, he has always hits sixes. This brand of cricket is suiting him," he added.
