Nehal Wadhera will play a lot of years for Mumbai and India eventually: Hardik Pandya

Image
Nehal Wadhera : Twitter Hardik Pandya praised Nehal Wadhera after his knock against LSG in the IPL 2024. The MI skipper felt that Wadhera has been fantastic as a batter for MI so far and added that he batted well against RR and LSG. The star player said that the youngster could not find a place in the XI in the early part of the tournament due to the team combination. However, he has played his role well after getting the opportunity. "He has been fantastic, the way he batted against Rajasthan and tonight. He did fantastic last year as well. It was because of the team combination that he could not play early," said Hardik in the post-match talk. The MI player felt that Wadhera has everything it takes to play for India and be a regular for Mumbai Indians in the next few seasons. "Looking at his talent, he will play for a lot of years for Mumbai and for India eventually," added Hardik in his statement. Nehal has been batting well right from his debut. In 2023

It was revealed that star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will be leading the side, with the likes of Pat Cummins, Tim David, David Warner, Josh Hazlewood, and many more stars featuring as well.  However, in a major development, veteran batter Steve Smith has been left out of the provisional 15-man squad for the tournament. Furthermore, exciting young talent Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has been performing exceptionally well in the IPL, has also missed out.  The board opted for a second specialist spinner in Ashton Agar and a spare all-rounder in Cameron Green , as both players will allow for more flexibility from the side.  Australia T20 World Cup 2024 squad Mitchell Marsh (capt), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Ca

Ever since his legendary knock against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023, Rinku has become a star player for KKR, even getting to feature for the Indian team in white-ball cricket.  It is worth noting that Rinku Singh has played 15 T20Is for India so far, where he has managed to amass 356 runs to his name, maintaining a staggering average of 89.00 and an astonishing strike rate of 176.23. With 123 runs in nine games so far in the IPL 2024, Rinku’s name has often been discussed for the Indian team’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 . The marquee tournament will kick off on June 2 and will see some of the best teams in world cricket take on each other for the title. Announcing the squad, veteran batter Kane Williamson was announced as the Black Caps’ skipper for the tournament, as he will be leading a rather inexperienced squad. Interestingly, instead of the usual selection committee announcing the squad, two 'special kids' Matilda and Angus took centre stage to announce the squad in an adorable way. The likes of Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Rachin Ravindra, Mark Chapman, Matt Henry, and many more stars will feature for New Zealand in the tournament. This will be Kane Williamson’s sixth T20 World Cup and his fourth tournament as the skipper.  Only Tim Southee in the squad has more experience than Wil

KL Rahul. (Source -IPL/BCCI) Lucknow Super Giants lost their recent clash against Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling run chase. Both sides faced off in the 44th game of the tournament at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, April 27. The clash began with Lucknow Super Giants coming in to bat first, and the side got off to a subpar start.  Opener Quinton de Kock was sent packing for just eight runs, with Marcus Stoinis going for a duck. The hosts found themselves in a complex situation in the early stages of the game. However, it was the knocks of KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda that propelled LSG to a good total.  Rahul amassed 76 runs in 48 deliveries, whereas Hooda added 50 runs in 31 balls. LSG posted a total of 196 runs in the first innings, but it still was not enough as RR chased down the target and won the game by seven wickets.  After the clash, LSG skipper KL Rahul came forward to talk about how he and Deepak Hooda should have added 20 more runs on the board, and a total o

Dhruv Jurel. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) Rajasthan Royals continue their dominance in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League). The side recently registered their eighth win of the season in nine games, staying atop the points table. Defeating Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in their recent clash, the side continued to make a statement in the tournament. The game saw Royals aiming to chase down a target of 197 runs, and it was the performances of Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel that stood out. Samson scored 71* runs in 33 deliveries, with Jurel adding 52* runs in 34 balls. It was a special occasion for Jurel, as the star batter performed after a flurry of subpar performances.  After the clash, the 23-year-old came forward to talk about his spot in Rajasthan Royals’ batting order, branding it both a blessing and a curse. He revealed that he just wanted to bat until the end and finish the game for his side.  "I just wanted to finish the match whenever I got a chance ( duri

LSG vs RR: Sandeep Sharma's in-swinger bamboozles Marcus Stoinis, video goes viral

Stonis Wicket ( Photo source : Jio Cinema ) Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) battled it out in the 44th match of the IPL 2024 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In the match, Marcus Stoinis, fresh off a century in the previous match, found himself grappling with the brilliance of Sandeep Sharma's bowling prowess. Sandeep Sharma's wobble seam delivery left Stoinis befuddled, inducing an errant drive that saw the ball sneaking through to rattle the middle stump. Stoinis departed for a mere four-ball duck, leaving LSG reeling at 11/2. However, skipper KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda took on the mantle of rebuilding the innings with aplomb. 'One area that needs to be looked at in future' - Sourav Ganguly demands for for balanced contest between bat and ball in IPL

Image
Sourav Ganguly (Photo Source: DC) Former India captain and current Delhi Capitals (DC) director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly , has raised concerns over the lopsided contest between bat and ball in the ongoing IPL season. With flat pitches and new rules favoring batters, bowlers have been almost unsuccessful as gigantic totals have become the norm. The IPL has witnessed a run-fest this year, with several teams breaching the 200-run mark with ease. Powerful hitting from batters combined with batter-friendly tracks has meant that bowlers have been smashed all around the park. The implementation of the 'Impact Player' rule, allowing an additional batter as a substitute, has further added to the problem. Ganguly emphasized the need to regain some equality, "Not easy for the bowlers. They are being carted all over and that's one area that needs to be looked at in the future, the balance between bat and ball," Ganguly said at the pre-match press conference as quoted

Shashank singh and Bairstow ( Source : IPL ) On Friday night at Eden Gardens, Punjab Kings (PBKS) re-wrote the record books with a jaw-dropping chase of 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). After being asked to bat first, the hosts looked in a comfortable position after the end of the powerplay. PBKS' stand-in skipper, Sam Curran, was awe-struck with the kind of hitting taking place in this format, especially regularly.  Curran believes that the game is turning into baseball, "Cricket is turning into baseball, isn't it? It was incredible, Where do we [start]? Delighted with two points. Games like that are out of the world, but most importantly we've had a tough few weeks as a team [this was the Kings' first win in five games] but we've hung in there. Shikhar Dhawan (Source -IPL) Punjab Kings find themselves in quite a complex situation in the ongoing season of the IPL (Indian Premier League). Having played eight games in the tournament so far, Punjab have managed to win twice and lose the remaining six games. They find themselves in ninth place in the points table as well.  Their lack of good performances could be attributed to the absence of regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan. The veteran batter injured himself ahead of PBKS’ clash against Rajasthan Royals on April 13 and has been out of action since, with Sam Curran leading the side.  Ahead of Punjab Kings’ upcoming game, the side’s spin bowling coach, Sunil Joshi, came forward to provide an update on Dhawan ’s injury situation, even revealing that the opener could be fit for the side’s upcoming game against Kolkata Knight Riders.  "Shikhar Dhawan was injured on the ground, we miss his batting services. 'I forgot the way to the press conference' - Faf du Plessis jokes after ending six-game losing streak in IPL 2024

Faf Du Plessis. (Source -IPL/BCCI) Royal Challengers Bengaluru took a sigh of relief after they broke their six-game losing streak in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League). The Faf du Plessis-led side recently took on the in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 41st game of the tournament and managed to register a 35-run victory, which was their second win of the season.  After the game, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis came forward and joked that he forgot about his post-match press conference duties after losing six games on the trot. It is worth noting that the skipper from the losing side does not attend the press conference, and it had been quite a while since Du Plessis had done that.  However, it was SRH skipper Pat Cummins who was interviewed first in the post-match presentation ceremony, with Du Plessis being called up afterward, which is when the veteran batter made the joke.  "I forgot the way to the press conference. RCB ( Photo source : IPL ) After a long wait, Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally managed to get back to the winning ways as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. They cleverly elected to bat first after winning the toss, which might have played a role in them getting an edge over SRH. Virat Kohli gave a good start for the visiting team as the other batters did their part to help RCB post 206 runs on the board in the first innings. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has been on the receiving end on social media for his knock. Even though some appreciated his anchor role, many criticised his strike rate and consider it to be a problem if he continues with it in the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, if his team is winning games despite him playing slowly, is that a problem? Well, time will tell on what BCCI decides for the mega tournament. Yuzi Chahal. (Photo Source: BCCI/IPL) Star Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is undoubtedly one of the best bowlers in the history of the IPL (Indian Premier League). Currently representing Rajasthan Royals in the tournament, Chahal became the first player in the tournament’s history to take 200 wickets. The 33-year-old has been a stalwart for any side that he has played for, and it is worth noting that before RR roped him in the mega auction in 2022, Chahal used to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and was one of the most crucial parts of the team.  RCB’s decision to let go of Chahal was something that was not understood by the fans, and former South African cricketer AB de Villiers recently came forward to talk about how heartbreaking it was to see RCB let go of Chahal.  "RCB let him go. It was a heartbreaking moment. He was a part of the furniture there and also their best bowler. It was crazy that he got left out of that franchise. It's not easy looking at Yuzi go

Ruturaj Gaikwad. (Source -IPL/BCCI) Ruturaj Gaikwad revealed the reason behind sending Ravindra Jadeja up the order against LSG. In both the games against the Lucknow-based franchise, Jadeja batted at number 4, ahead of Shivam Dube. In the first match, Jadeja scored a fifty and helped CSK to post a decent total on the board. But in the second match, Jadeja struggled to get going and ended up scoring just 16 runs in 19 balls.  When Dube came to bat, he blasted the bowlers for fun. The southpaw scored a fabulous 66(27) and was involved in a 104-run stand for the 4th wicket with Ruturaj Gaikwad . While the skipper himself scored an unbeaten 108*(60), CSK did not get enough from Jadeja. Following the criticism of the promotion of Jadeja, Gaikwad spoke about the decision. The CSK skipper revealed the logic behind sending Jadeja up the order in both the games. The star player claimed that in case of collapses in the top order during the powerplay overs, Jadeja was sent to anchor the in

Stephen Fleming. (Source -Twitter/X) Stephen Fleming spoke about the constant changes being made in the team in the ongoing season of the IPL. CSK has lost back-to-back games against LSG. But the latest one in their fortress has hurt them, especially due to the fact that they conceded the highest-ever run-chase at home in their history. CSK is still trying to find the best combination in the ongoing season. Fleming addressed the same issue in the press conference after the match against LSG The head coach of CSK felt that they are still away from finding the right combination. The former Kiwi skipper claimed that the focus is on trying to fix things gradually. " "It's a mix of trying to find that [the best XI], and also a bit of form. We are a little bit uncomfortable with some areas, so we're just trying to find not a quick fix but try and find the right combination," said Fleming as quoted by Cricbuzz. CSK has undergone several changes in its lineup. Aji

Impact Player rule faces criticism from Axar Patel, Mukesh Kumar

Image
Axar Patel. (Source -IPL/BCCI) The Impact Player rule in the IPL has stirred up a whirlwind of opinions among players, particularly from the Delhi Capitals camp. Axar Patel, the team's seasoned allrounder, isn't shy about sharing his discontent and said that it is affecting his batting position. Introduced in 2023, the Impact Player rule allows teams to substitute a player during their innings, a move aimed at adding tactical flexibility. However, it's drawn criticism from players like Axar and his teammate, Mukesh Kumar. "Whoever is making the rules, they are thinking that everything will work as per batter's convenience. Obviously, it has been difficult (for the bowlers). According to me, it's difficult but obviously you will have the opportunity as well that you can perform well in that situation, if you have the skills then how you can use them," Axar said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. "Because of the Impact sub rule, everyone gets one more ba

Recently, Punjab Kings were handed their sixth loss of the season after they lost their latest clash against Gujarat Titans. Stand-in skipper Sam Curran’s side posted a total of 142 runs in the first innings and failed to defend it in the second.  The skipper scored 20 runs in 19 deliveries and took a wicket in the two overs he bowled, conceding 18 runs in the process. The same performance did not sit well with former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag. Taking centre stage, Sehwag came forward to scrutinize Curran’s performance and reflect on how he would not pick him in the squad with his current form.  "I wouldn't keep Sam Curran as a batting all-rounder or a bowling all-rounder. Kishore, hailing from Chennai, finished with excellent figures of 4/33 in his full quota, maintaining an economy rate of 8.25. Notably, this marked his first four-fer in the cash-rich league. Wasim Jaffer. (Photo Source: Twitter) Delhi Capitals' return to their traditional home ground, Arun Jaitley Stadium, turned out to be a forgettable outing as they were hammered by Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, April 20. After opting to bowl first, Rishabh Pant saw his premier bowler in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Khaleel Ahmed, being thrashed for 19 runs by the left-handed opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. Instead of pitching the ball up and searching for swing, the left-arm pacer bowled short and wide and gave the batters the chance to free their arms. Former India opener Wasim Jaffer criticized Khaleel for his erratic first over and said that it played into the hands of Head and Abhishek. “We were surprised by the way Khaleel started bowling short to him. You needed to pitch the ball up and allow it to swing. They just played in his hands, bowling short and giving him the start that he wanted,” Jaffer told ESPNcricinfo. Off-spin bowling all-rounder
