New Zealand Cricket recently came forward to announce their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which is all set to be held in the USA and the West Indies. The marquee tournament will kick off on June 2 and will see some of the best teams in world cricket take on each other for the title.

Announcing the squad, veteran batter Kane Williamson was announced as the Black Caps’ skipper for the tournament, as he will be leading a rather inexperienced squad. Interestingly, instead of the usual selection committee announcing the squad, two 'special kids' Matilda and Angus took centre stage to announce the squad in an adorable way.

The likes of Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Rachin Ravindra, Mark Chapman, Matt Henry, and many more stars will feature for New Zealand in the tournament. This will be Kane Williamson’s sixth T20 World Cup and his fourth tournament as the skipper. Only Tim Southee in the squad has more experience than Williamson, and both veterans will aim to lead from the front and hopefully propel the Black Caps to a historic win.

I'd like to congratulate everyone named today: Gary Stead

After the announcement of the squad, New Zealand’s head coach, Gary Stead, came forward to congratulate every player who was named in the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 and even heaped praise on the likes of Matt Henry and Rachin Ravindra following their selection.

“I'd like to congratulate everyone named today. It’s a special time representing your country at a world tournament, we expect the venues in the West Indies to offer quite varied conditions and feel we’ve selected a squad with the scope to adapt to those conditions,” Gary Stead was quoted as saying by NZC.

"Matt has worked exceptionally hard on his skills across the phases of a T20 game to come back into selection consideration, Rachin has made every post a winner in the past 12 months and it was exciting to see him continue that trajectory over the summer in the T20 format against Australia,” he added.
