Shah Rukh Khan set to light up WPL 2024 opening ceremony

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is all set to light up the stage at the opening ceremony of the Women's Premier League (WPL) second season. Fans are buzzing with excitement as the news broke that the King Khan himself will be a star performer at the grand event.

The revelation came from WPL's social media team, and the excitement is reaching new heights. In a post, they declared that the Kolkata team's owner in IPL and renowned actor will perform in front of his fans during the opening ceremony. Notably, several other actors like Shahid Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan, Varun Dhawan, and Tiger Shroff will also be joining the star-studded lineup of performers for the WPL 2024 opening ceremony.

"Get ready, folks! It's none other than Shah Rukh Khan who will celebrate Cricket ka Queendom!" WPL mentioned on their 'X' handle.

The excitement doesn't end there. The second season of WPL is all set to kick off on February 23, with last year's finalists Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals battling it out in the opening match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The tournament promises cricket enthusiasts a thrilling ride until March 17, with matches scheduled in Bengaluru and Delhi.

This time, the spotlight will be on Delhi and Bengaluru as they co-host the tournament. Five teams, including UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Mumbai Indians, are gearing up for the challenge, eyeing the prestigious trophy.

Team at helm in league standings will get direct qualification for WPL final

The WPL 2024 season will follow the same format as the previous year, with the top three teams from the league stage advancing to the playoffs. The team finishing first in the league standings gets a direct ticket to the final, while the second and third-placed teams face off in the Eliminator on March 15.

Last year's inaugural season witnessed the Mumbai Indians, led by India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, clinching the championship by defeating Meg Lanning's Delhi Capitals. Cricket enthusiasts are in for a double dose of excitement as the cricket fever spreads across India with the WPL's much-anticipated second season.
