The 37-year-old David Warner had a stellar campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023 as he finished as the leading run-getter for Australia. While his Test retirement is impending, the southpaw has hinted at continuing to play the 50-over format at least till the next ODI World Cup in 2027.
Earlier this year, Warner announced that he would bid adieu to the red-ball format after playing the Test series against Pakistan at home in January 2024. After Australia won a record-extending sixth ODI World Cup title, many thought that Warner's swansong wasn't too far off. However, the diminutive batter has subtly hinted that he could carry on playing ODIs for quite some time now.
Responding to a social media post that said that the opening batter's World Cup career "ended with a 'glorious record" of 1527 runs, the experienced campaigner said. 'who said I am finished??'.
