President of India Droupadi Murmu has congratulated the country's women's blind cricket team for clinching the gold medal in the IBSA (International Blind Sports Federation) World Games 2023 in Birmingham. India women outplayed Australia by nine wickets using the DLS method in the rain-curtailed final at Edgbaston on Saturday, August 26.
Opting to bat first, Australia women got off to a worst possible start as India women restricted them to 114/8 in the allotted 20 overs. The Women in Blue then chased down the revised target of 42, in just 3.3 overs. With this win India created history, becoming the first-ever cricket winners at the international multi-sport event.

Pakistan beat India in Men's IBSA World Games finals
Pakistan's blind cricket team defeated India in the Men's IBSA World Games finals to secure the gold medal on Saturday, August 26. Batting first, India posted a reasonable total of 184 runs. However, Men in Blue failed to defend the title as their archrivals recorded a dominating eight-wicket to register a historic win.
India batter DR Tompaki gave his side an explosive start with a 50-run partnership with VR Dunna in the first six overs. Dunna scored 20 runs while Tompaki smashed a gritty knock of 51-ball 76 runs with the help of 11 boundaries. Apart from them S Ramesh also provided a significant contribution, amassing an unbeaten 48 runs off 29 balls which helped India to post a challenging total of 184 runs.
Pakistan on the other hand, chased the target, courtesy of M Ullah and N Ali's 50-run opening stand in just 27 balls. M Salman top-scored for Men in Green, scoring an unbeaten 48 off 25 balls while B Munir amassed an explosive knock of 41* to help Pakistan win the first-ever title in the competition.
