'This team is truly worried about what we need to do to win second Test' - Travis Head unbothered by English sledging ahead of 2nd Ashes

The Ashes 2023 got off to a wondrous start for Pat Cummins-led Australia. After a gruelling battle against England across the five days of the match, the Aussies’ managed to chase the target down on Day 5 as Pat Cummins’ brilliance with the bat led the side to an emphatic victory by two wickets.

Despite the thrilling win, one of the biggest talking points of the game was the verbal altercation between English pacer Ollie Robinson and Australian opener Usman Khawaja. Robinson sledged Khawaja after dismissing him in the first innings, and Khawaja replied back on Day 5.

However, ahead of the second Test, Australian batter Travis Head came forward to opine that the side is not focused on England’s sledging. Head opined that Australia are focused on making it two wins in a row instead of sledging.

"We're only going for lunch (at Lord's), apparently, yeah, they (England) have got this mantra they're going at. Not just on the field but off the field they are throwing some nice chat out, but this team is truly just worried about what we need to do to win the second Test to go 2-0 up and put some pressure on them," Head told 9News Sydney.

We'll see where the next four Tests go: Head

Furthermore, Head was also of the opinion that he enjoys such jovial battles of sledging, stating that since it did not go Robinson’s way in the first Test, the English pacer would look to step it up in the second Test that is scheduled to begin soon.

"I find it pretty fun. I had a few quiet words, jovial words, to him out there. It all makes for good fun, and we'll see where the next four Tests go. It didn't go his way in the first one, but he's very competitive, and he will want to step up. But if he doesn't, I think they have got a few people at home that might want to get up his back," Head added.
