The stage for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Final has been set as the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings take on the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 28.

Gujarat Titans are competing in their second IPL final in two years. However, it is Chennai Super Kings who are competing in their 10th final, with it being the 11th summit clash for Chennai skipper MS Dhoni.

Being a legendary skipper and having further enhanced his legacy in the IPL, MS Dhoni would be keen on leading Chennai to their fifth IPL title. With the summit clash of the competition right around the corner, all eyes would be set on the Yellow Army and Dhoni.

Speaking ahead of the clash between Chennai and Gujarat, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody recently came forward to heap praise on the legendary captain of the four-time champions. Naming his greatest captain in the last 50 years, Moody picked none other than MS Dhoni

"MS Dhoni hands down in my view is the best T20 captain we have ever seen. And he has shown examples of that this year. And if you are talking about Test cricket, I would not put MS Dhoni in that category," Tom Moody said on ESPNcricinfo.

Chennai Super Kings aim to clinch their fifth IPL title

With the final to be played on May 28, Chennai Super Kings would be keen on emerging victorious, as they would become five-time champions and go level with arch-rivals Mumbai Indians. On the other hand, the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat would have a mountain to climb as they take on a heavily experienced Chennai lineup.

Both sides last faced each other in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2023, where Chennai emerged victorious by 15 runs. However, with the sublime form of Shubman Gill and many more, Gujarat could go on to defend their title and become back-to-back champions.
