Young Greek-Australian spinner, Peter Hatzoglou, signed a short-term deal with the British club, Glamorgan, after Michael Neser has been called up to the national training camp. Notably, the 24-year-old is very likely to be available for three matches only but can extend by a couple more, if Neser remains unavailable.

He made his debut for Glamorgan against Somerset in the ongoing T20 blast on Sunday, May 28, but failed to make any sort of impact. Even though he scored 15 runs off eight deliveries in the first innings. With the ball, the cricketer leaked 50 runs off four overs and thus, there’s a lot of room for improvement at the moment.

However, before making his debut for the Kiran Carlson-led side, Hatzoglou stated that he is very eager to play for the club and is desperate to make an impact.

“It’s a fast-moving world in the T20 arena, I don’t know how long I’ll be here for but I’m really excited to play and make an impact,” Hatzoglou said in an interview with the BBC Sport Wales.

Somerset beat Glamorgan by four wickets

Batting first, the visiting team lost the wicket of the opener Sam Northeast rather cheaply but Eddie Byrom (42 runs off 28 deliveries) and skipper Kiran (31 runs off 19 deliveries) stabilized the situation and gave Glamorgan a good start. However, after the duo was sent back to the pavilion, things got complicated in the middle. Somerset bowlers looked ruthless in the middle overs and despite getting starts, the Glamorgan batters couldn’t capitalize on it. The team eventually posted 153 runs on board which the home team chased down pretty easily.

Stumper-batter Tom Banton gave the perfect start to Somerset in the second innings, scoring 54 runs off 28 deliveries while Will Smeed hit 28 runs off 14 deliveries. The duo set the platform for others to chip in well as they eventually won the match by four wickets. With that, Somerset are currently at the top of the points table while Glamorgan are in fifth.
