Mumbai Indians (MI) continued their winning streak as they defeated UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 match at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday, March 12. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side has now won all four matches and remains at the top of the points table.

She dismissed Devika Vaidya in her first over but conceded four boundaries to Healy in the next over. The wicket-keeper batter scored 58 off 46 balls. Saika later made a brilliant comeback and took the wickets of Healy and Tahila McGrath (50 off 37 balls) in the same over.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s blistering knock helps MI win

Harmanpreet Kaur played a scintillating knock of 53* off 33 balls smacking one maximum and nine boundaries. She stitched a superb unbeaten 106-run stand with Sciver-Brunt, which helped her side to chase the 160-run target with 2.3 overs to spare.

Losing captain Alyssa Healy:

We were probably 16-20 short, we just couldn't finish well and probably a batter short. It wasn't an easy wicket, we couldn't find the boundary as often as we would have liked. We will see how we can be better. We will turn up in 2 days time, play RCB and move on. We want to be a really good fielding side and take opportunities. We are working really hard, trying really hard which is what we want to be as a team and hopefully the results go our way.

Nat Sciver-Brunt:

It feels brilliant. The team is on a real high and we are really enjoying it. There was a little bit of seam movement early on, I was trying not to get hit for 4s and 6s. The spinners if they bowled the right pace it was a little stoppy and gripping as well. We learnt that from the first innings. It's amazing batting with her (Harmanpreet) and batting with everyone as well.
