It's a tug of war: Matt Kuhnemann expects day three to be the decider
"It's a bit of a tug of war at the moment, that's what Test cricket's all about," the 26-year-old said while speaking to ABC Sport after day two at the Arun Jaitely Stadium.
The left-arm orthodox spinner stated that his sudden inclusion into the team didn't affect his mentality much. On the contrary, he was happy his career fom domestic cricket in Australia to international cricket catapulted fairly fast, and he is looking forward to making the most out of every single opportunity that came his way.
On his Test skipper Pat Cummins, Kuhnemann stated that he shares a good bond with Cummins and with the skipper trusting him with the new ball, the debutant was able to maintain his calm demeanor on the field. Furthermore, he added that he always preferred to grab hold of the new ball as that always helped him to attack better, given he entered every match with a fresh mindset so he found it easy to confuse opponents.
“I felt calm, I think Patty [Cummins] makes me feel like I’m welcome in this team, and for him to give me the new ball gave me a lot of faith. I love taking the new ball, whether it’s red or white," the 26-year-old told ABC Sport.
On an ending note, elucidating further on the ongoing second Test, Kuhnemann said that the way the first two days panned out, day three would be extremely critical and the major decider as to which team would be able to have the last laugh.
"It's been amazing to be part of this game so far, and tomorrow [day three], there's going to be more happening ... so it's going to be awesome," the Aussie concluded.
