Australian pacer Lance Morris believes that the upcoming Test series against India will be his best chance to make his much-awaited debut. Morris is included in Australia's 18-member squad for the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 and is likely to make his international debut in the first match starting on February 9 in Nagpur.

The 24-year-old right-arm pacer was included in the Sydney Test against South Africa earlier this month as a replacement of injured Mitchell Starc. However, he didn't get a chance with Australian management going with just two pace options in the Sydney Test.

But Morris is included in the squad for the India tour with Starc and Cameron Green declared unfit for the first Test. The pacer said that he will be doing everything he can to get a chance in the playing XI against India.

“I’m going to do everything I can to be as ready as possible. If we’re talking honestly, that’s probably my best chance of playing over there so we’ll see what happens,” Morris told reporters before Perth Scorchers' upcoming clash against Adelaide Strikers.

With Scott Boland also in the team, it will be interesting to seewho would partner Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood in the first Test against India. The traveling side can also continue with two pace and two specialist spinners, with Ashton Agar, Mitchell Swepson and Todd Murphy available alongside Nathan Lyon.

Morris also talked about his performances in the Big Bash League 2022-23, where he has taken six wickets from three innings on his return from the Sydney Test. Scorchers are leading the table with nine wins from the opening eleven games with pacers Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye shining this season.

“It’s nice to be back competing, I was probably bowling to the back of a net for four or five weeks there. It’s nice to be back in the middle and bowling to some of the best batters going around at the moment, so it’s great,” Morris explained.
