England's red-ball captain Ben Stokes has been named the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the year 2022 on the back of his scintillating displays as an all-rounder.

Stokes changed the dynamics of Test cricket in 2022. Ever since he took over the responsibility as England’s Test captain, the 31-year-old along with red-ball coach Brendon McCullum, he introduced the idea of playing an aggressive brand of cricket even in the longest format of the game, which eventually gave England plenty of success in red-ball cricket in 2022.

In the year 2022, England’s talismanic all-rounder scored 870 runs at an average of 36.25 and also picked up 26 wickets at an average of 31.19. In addition to this, Stokes led the team to nine wins in 10 Tests, completing series victories over New Zealand (3-0) and South Africa (2-1) at home, beating India in the one-off (postponed) Test to level the series 2-2, and also found success away from home, when they hammered Pakistan 3-0 in Pakistan.

The star all-rounder was also named the captain of the ICC Men's Test XI for 2022. He turned out to be simply phenomenal with his decision-making capabilities and also used his bowlers cleverly to find success in the format. A lot of former cricketers including the likes of Michael Vaughan and Micheal Atherton have appreciated the cricketer for the same, however, his real test awaits when Australia will arrive in England for the Ashes in June.

Marco Jansen named ICC Emerging Men's Cricketer of the Year

Proteas speedster Marco Jansen has been named ICC Emerging Men's Cricketer of the Year 2022. In 2022, the 22-year-old picked up 36 wickets from eight Test matches and also picked up three wickets from four appearances in white-ball cricket.

Now, even though South Africa completely failed to stamp their authority in the Test series against Australia, Marco Jansen proved his caliber with the ball. The youngster has also played a valuable role in helping South Africa stay in the race for a potential final berth of the ongoing World Test Championship.
