After Ishan Kishan made a statement to the selectors in style with an electrifying double century in the third One Day International against Bangladesh at Chattogram, on Saturday, December 10, he turned entertainer in the post-match interaction that left everyone present over there in splits.

The youngster gave a hilarious reply while answering a reporter’s question who had asked him whether this record-shattering double ton automatically will earn him a place in the Indian ODI team for the upcoming fixtures.

"I don't know, I don't think these things. All I can do is perform when I get a chance. I don't want to talk. I want to let my bat do the talking. Whether there is a place for me or not. Kishan ended his answer on a cheeky note, suggesting since he has hit a double hundred, maybe he has solidified his position in the process,” said Ishan Kishan during the post-match presser.

"Ab 200 kiya hai to kya pata.. (Now I've scored a double century so who knows...)," the southpaw said before having a hearty laugh.

Ishan Kishan shatters a plethora of records with his maiden ODI double century

Ishan was selected in India’s playing XI as an opener in place of skipper Rohit Sharma who was ruled out due to a thumb injury. After a watchful start, he started to toy around with the Bangladesh bowling attack. He looked in ominous touch on the day. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul had to play the role of the onlookers at the non-striker’s end while Virat Kohli played a perfect second fiddle scoring 113 runs off 91 deliveries.

The 24-year-old registered his maiden ODI double century and became the fourth Indian batter to do so after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma. He notched up his double ton off just 126 balls which happens to be the fastest in One Day Internationals history.

Kishan’s stay at the crease eventually ended for a 131-ball 210 as India posted a gigantic total of 409/8. It proved to be way beyond Bangladesh’s reach who in reply were skittled for 182 in the 34th over as the Men in Blue came out on top by a comprehensive margin of 227 runs.
