Pakistan recently reached the final of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia and were unfortunate to end up on the losing side against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Notably, the Babar Azam-led side did not have the best of starts to the tournament after losing to India and Zimbabwe in the Super 12 stage and the road looked quite tough for them to make it to the knockouts.

However, a spirited Pakistan side played out of its skin in the remaining fixtures and got to the final with some magnificent performances. Pakistan's outgoing Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa lauded the players for their “fighting spirit” while meeting them at a reception hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

President Dr. Arif Alvi who was also present at the meeting mentioned that Pakistan "lived up to its reputation as being unpredictable. They have made the country proud by beating the best teams on their way to the Word Cup final.”

There is no better T20 player than Shadab Khan who has every trick up his sleeves: Bajwa

Bajwa further noted that Shadab Khan is among the best T20 players going around and hailed the bowlers for giving their all in low-scoring games.

"I believe that there is no better T20 player than Shadab Khan who has every trick up his sleeves, required for a quality T20 player,” COAS stated as quoted by Geo News.

"Made the country proud by leaving the multi-billion dollar teams behind by reaching the final. The bowlers gave their heart out in face of a low target which was exciting to watch,” he added.

Bajwa also expressed his liking for Babar Azam’s brave captaincy and lauded the team for standing up despite the defeats.

"Once you lose, you should have the courage to accept your defeat. The one who does not learn from his mistakes could not be called a true leader."
