The Bangladesh cricket team bowed out from the T20 World Cup in Australia after a narrow defeat against fellow subcontinent side Pakistan, missing out on a semi-final berth in the global tournament. But the board is backing the players and the coaching staff despite an underwhelming campaign, as Allan Donald is set to continue his duties as the bowling coach for the upcoming series against India.

Bangladesh Cricket Board's chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury revealed that the former South African pacer will remain with the Bangladeshi team for the upcoming ODI and Test series against India at home. Donald's stint with the Men in Green was set to conclude after the T20 World Cup campaign, but the Protean will remain a part of the coaching staff with a new contract imminent.

"Allan Donald is available during the home series against India. His contract (that is signed till the ICC T20 World Cup 2022) is an internal matter but he is available during the India series," Nizamuddin said in a chat with Cricbuzz.

BCB will decide on the future of the foreign coaches in the upcoming days

The Protean worked extensively on Bangladeshi fast bowling sensation Mustafizur Rehman's action, guiding the canny bowler to regain his rhythm and consistency for the national team. Donald's impact was felt in the T20 World Cup campaign as the pacer made decent contributions to his side's results.

"He (Donald) did pretty well to guide Mustafizur during the tri-series ahead of the World Cup and Fizz bowled relatively well in the global tournament," said the official.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is expected to take a decision on the extension of the contract of their coaching staff in the coming days with head coach Sridharan Sriram's future uncertain with the national team. However, reports suggest that the board is happy with his performance and might retain his services for future assignments.
