The captain of the Australian side, Aaron Finch was full of praise for Virat Kohli, who finally hit his 71st century against Afghanistan in the recently concluded Asia Cup. As the Kangaroos are all set to challenge India for a three-match T20I series, Finch is aware of the damage Kohli can do and said that only a brave man will write off the former Indian captain.

The former India captain finally got back in form and was the second leading run-scorer of the Asia Cup. Just after the continental cup, captain Rohit Sharma spoke about his importance for the T20 World Cup and with that being just a month away, Kohli would look forward to carrying that form and being in his best form.

Just before the commencement of Australia’s tour, captain Aaron Finch talked about Kohli’s strength and how he is one of the greatest players of all time. “It would be a very brave man to write Virat Kohli off. At any stage, he has shown for 15 years now that he is one of the greatest players of all time,” Finch told reporters on the eve of their first T20I against India.

“'Particularly in T20 cricket, he's someone who has developed and grown his game over such a long period that you always plan and prepare the best when you're coming up against him. He is super and has 71 international centuries. That's just ridiculous,” the captain added.

I feel my form has been really good for quite a while now: Finch amidst criticisms

Aaron Finch has been struggling with his form for quite some time now. After 9 single-digit scores in the last 14 ODI matches, Finch called his time in the 50-over format. However, when it comes to T20I cricket, he has been performing reasonably well in the shortest format of the game. Even after that, his future in T20I cricket is still not clear. Finch, however, doesn’t care about their criticisms and wants to focus on his game.

“Over a long period of time, you get pretty comfortable with criticism, but in T20 cricket, I feel my form has been really good for quite a while now. I think if you separate the ODI form and the T20 form, then they're totally different, they're two different formats of the game,'' said Finch.

The captain also gave an update about the Mohali pitch, where the first match will be played. He said there was quite a bit of grass on it and the ball can swing and will carry well.
