After a nail-biting victory against Australia in the final T20I, India clinched yet another series and continued their dominance in the format. Since the T20 World Cup 2021, India is yet to lose a T20I series and Rohit Sharma’s leadership has come to the fore so well. The Men in Blue have now been rewarded with their ranking points increased in the latest ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings. Australia dropped one point after the series loss to India despite staying in the sixth place in the rankings.

The hard-fought series win took India to 268 points overall and have increased the gap from the second-placed side, which is England with 261 points. England are currently playing a seven-match T20I series in Pakistan, and they suffered a close defeat by three runs to level the series 2-2. South Africa and Pakistan are currently tied with 258 points at the third and fourth position respectively and plenty of changes in the rankings could be expected in the coming days.

India will play a three-match T20I series against South Africa starting from September 28 and are likely to go into the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia as the top-ranked team if they manage to complete another series victory at home.

Rohit Sharma delighted with different players stepping up

Meanwhile, India emerged victorious in the series decider on the back of swashbuckling half-centuries from Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli. After going down 0-1 early in the series, India made a strong comeback in the last two games and skipper Rohit Sharma heaped praises on different individuals stepping up in each of the games.

"It (Hyderabad) is a special place. We have had a lot of memories with the India team and with Deccan Chargers. [On the game] It was a great occasion. We wanted to put up a show, and we did that well. The biggest positives was different individuals stepping up with the ball and bat. When you are sitting back and watching all of that happening, you feel nice as a management. Sometimes you can make errors in doing a lot of things,” Rohit told in the post-match conference.
