Team India's batting coach Vikram Rathour has praised left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh and mentioned that the 23-year-old youngster can handle pressure situations well due to his temperament.

Despite being new to the international format, Arshdeep has been able to perform well during pressure situations. This ability of the left-arm bowler has not gone unnoticed and has been praised by many including Rathour.

Arshdeep has shown that he could be a great addition to the squad due to his death over bowling abilities. Furthermore, Arshdeep's presence helps India to expand their death bowling options alongside the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel.

Arshdeep Singh could prove vital in the death overs

The impressive performances in Arshdeep’s recent outings just go on to show that the youngster is here to stay for a long run. Ahead of the first T20I against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday (September 28), Rathour, told reporters on how the left-arm pacer has done reasonably well since his arrival in the international circuit.

"As team management, we just have discussions to back their strengths and whatever the team plans are. No specific areas but for a young kid who has just come into international cricket, so far he has shown the temperament and composure to handle pressure and bowl well in difficult conditions. So as far we are concerned, we are pretty happy with the way he is progressing," said Rathour.

Moreover, the batting coach gave an insight into the players joining the side for the South Africa series.

"Already three replacements that are coming through. Arsh has joined the team. Shahbaz has joined the team and I think we are expecting Shreyas here till the evening. These are the replacements. Who plays in the eleven, that will be a decision taken before the game."

The Rohit Sharma-led India and Temba Bavuma's South Africa will square off in the first game of the three-match T20I series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on Wednesday (September 28).
