The Hundred Men’s 2022 season kicked off on August 3 with defending champions Southern Brave smashing Welsh Fire with a nine-wicket win. The Hundred Women’s 2022 matches will start on August 11 due to women cricket’s involvement in the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. And due to that, there are some changes made for the second edition.
Each team will play only six matches this year, two less than the men’s eight matches. They will not play two matches against the closest rivals and will miss playing against one team as well. But in terms of players’ salaries, women cricketers will receive 100 percent raise for this season, and prize money will be the same as men’s. This has helped this unique tournament attract international stars Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy, and Ellyse Perry, who all missed last season.
Last year’s winners Oval Invincibles will be facing Northern Superchargers in the opening match at The Oval. And the final match is scheduled to take place at Lord’s on September 3. The majority of English players are confirmed to play all the matches this season, but fans will miss England Women’s team skipper Heather Knight, who is ruled out of the entire tournament with a hip injury.
