The Champions Trophy is over, and though all the players will be shifting their focus on the IPL, there is still curiosity among the fans regarding the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the game as both are currently in the last phase of their career right now.
Rohit has now won his second ICC title as a captain and his fourth overall as an international player after the conclusion of the tournament. He was also the player of the match in the final against New Zealand. Recently according to reports from Cricbuzz, the India skipper who had mentioned that he is not retiring from 50-over cricket is thinking of remaining fit until the 2027 World Cup and still wishes to continue playing Test cricket. The report also read that the 37-year-old legendary batter is putting in some extra work with his former Mumbai teammate and coach Abhishek Nayar to maintain sustainability in the game.

There is no doubt about Rohit’s ability to play the game, but his performances have been quite inconsistent lately. The Champions Trophy did not show Rohit Sharma playing at his fluent best, where he failed to get some big scores before the final. He could only manage to score 180 runs in five matches at an average of 36. Speaking of his Test record, he was last seen in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he had an abysmal performance and ended up being the skipper with the worst average touring Australia. It seems like he might want to overcome these mistakes and get back to his best once again in the upcoming fixtures and tournaments.
Speaking of India’s upcoming schedule after the IPL, the team will be going to England to play a five-match Test series. This is another challenging series since India has not beaten England at home since 2007 under the leadership of Rahul Dravid. The last series India played in England was in 2021 which ended in a 2-2 draw.
