Life imprisonment imposed on 12 accused for murdering Suresh Raina's uncle in 2020

The 12 people accused in Suresh Raina's uncle - Ashok Kumar's murder have been sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment by the District Sessions court.

Kumar was murdered in August 2020 at his Pathankot residence during a robbery incident. Other members of his family were also injured. Kumar's son, Kaushal, lost his life while being treated at the hospital. Apart from the life imprisonment, the culprits were also slapped with fines of INR 2 lakh each. District Sessions Judge Jitendra Pal Singh Khurmi gave the decision after examining all the evidences.

The then Chief Minister of Punajb Amarinder Singh ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) immediately after the accident. This included IGP of Amritsar Border Range, Pathankot SSP, SP etc. SIT collected evidence during the investigation. A total of 100 people were found suspicious.
