Over a duration of 12 days spanning from April 28 to May 9, the five T20Is contested between Bangladesh Women and India Women showcased the hosts being dominated by the visitors in an authoritative all-around exhibition, emerging triumphant in every fixture of the series.
Skipper of India Women, Harmanpreet Kaur, emerged as the third-highest run-getter in the series, with 105 runs in the four innings she featured in, with her not needed in the second T20I where inclement weather during the run-chase granted India a 19-run victory via the DLS method.
Reflecting on the overpowering display, Harmanpreet was sure of the fact that the recently-concluded series would inject a whole lot of faith and belief in the unit. Inferring to the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup which is slated to eventuate in Bangladesh itself in the month of October later this year, she was confident of taking all the learnings her side imbibed during the series to the mega-event. She also stated that they've been constantly striving to better themselves, and was hopeful for her team to put her best foot forward given the immense volume of flair they possess.
"Definitely, this tournament will give us a lot of confidence, [playing] in the conditions will definitely help us. Whatever we learnt here, we can take that to the World Cup. We are really working hard on that. Hopefully, in the World Cup, we will be able to do whatever we can do. I know our team has that much potential and hopefully, we play our best cricket," remarked Harmanpreet as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
The WPL gave our players a lot of confidence: Harmanpreet
With the entire 16-member squad selected for the Bangladesh series, having played the Women's Premier League 2024 and most of them excelling in the tournament with career-enhancing outings, Harmanpreet credited the WPL for being one of the key factors in providing her side's members with an opportune platform to express themselves and distill their techniques, the reverberations of which could be clearly witnessed in the backdrop of the Bangladesh series. She was certain in trusting the process and executing tasks as per the requirement, after which promising outcomes would indisputably follow.
"The WPL gave our players a lot of confidence, because the way a lot of us played in the WPL, we have improved our game during that time, and those results are giving results here. We just need to keep doing the right things, and results will come," shared Harmanpreet.
