Exciting Australian prospect Jake Fraser-McGurk has been running riots in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024. The 22-year-old has been one of the best batters in the tournament and has been exceptional for Delhi Capitals as their opener.
Despite not being part of Australia’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, Fraser-McGurk continues to excel under the guidance of Ricky Ponting. Recently, the youngster came forward to reveal some pieces of advice that Ponting gave him. He opined that Ponting told him some things regarding his bat swing, which has helped him a lot.
"What he's said to me that's really stuck with me, [Ponting said] I hit the ball a lot further when I swing at 80 percent instead of 100 percent. ‘You just have to find the middle and it'll go for six'. I was like, 'OK that's good', because when I swing harder my head moves,” Fraser-McGurk told the Willow Talk podcast.

Furthermore, Fraser-McGurk heaped praise on Ponting and his experience picking up on such little things, which help the youngsters in the side. The youngster also revealed that he went through the footage of his knocks and noticed the things that Ponting pointed out.
"I did look at the footage of all the games I've been playing apart from the IPL and he's right, when I swing quite hard, my head is moving as I train on the ball. He is just someone who can pick up those little things that you're not going to notice...it absolutely blew my mind,” he said.
Fraser-McGurk was exceptional against Rajasthan Royals, scoring 50 runs in just 20 deliveries. The youngster helped Delhi Capitals post a total of 221 runs in the first innings and they ultimately won the game by 20 runs.
