Trent Boult had an impressive outing at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, as he decimated the top order of the Mumbai Indians with the new ball on Monday, April 1. He won the Player of the Match award for his breathtaking spell of 3/22 from four overs.
After Sanju Samson won a crucial toss for Rajasthan Royals and opted to field first, Boult got his team off to a dream start as he dismissed Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir off the last two balls in the first over. In the second ball of his second over, the Kiwi pacer got the better of Dewald Brevis. All three batters were dismissed for golden ducks as Boult was breathing fire.

The left-arm speedster eventually finished with a three-for. Mumbai Indians never really managed to come back after the early setbacks and they were eventually restricted to 125/9 in their 20 overs. The Royals managed to chase the paltry target with six wickets and 27 balls to spare after Riyan Parag scored his second half-century of the season.
Legendary Australian all-rounder Shane Watson heaped praise on Boult for his ability to be on the money from the very first ball. The former also said that Boult is getting younger with age.
"Trent Boult is just so accurate. He rarely misses his execution with the brand new ball in the first over. He hits the ground, sprinting, so accurate," Shane Watson said on Jio Cinema in the mid-innings break.
"Ball swinging back in, he is just an absolute weapon and he continues to do it over and over again. It's like he is just getting young with age. He is so energetic and he is always on the money from ball one and what an asset to have for the Rajasthan Royals," Shane Watson concluded.

Boult now has 55 wickets in the powerplay overs in the IPL. Only Bhuvneshwar Kumar (61) and Deepak Chahar (56) have more powerplay wickets than the New Zealander in the history of the tournament.
With this win, the Royals climbed to the top of the table as they have six points from three games. Meanwhile, Mumbai remain at the foot of the table after suffering their third straight loss.
