Pakistan Women's cricket team players - Bismah Maroof and Ghulam Fatima suffered minor injuries after being involved in a car accident on Friday, April 5. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement that the two experienced cricketers received immediate first aid and were placed under the care of the board's medical team.

Both Maroof and Fatima are part of a training camp for probables for Pakistan's impending home series against West Indies, starting later this month. The Women in Green are set to play three ODIs and five T20Is against the women from the Caribbean, with all the matches set to take place at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Both Maroof, who led Pakistan between 2013 and 2020, and Fatima played in Pakistan's last ODI series in New Zealand in December. The away side lost the series 1-2. Maroof scored 89 runs in the three matches and finished as the third-highest run-getter for Pakistan. She registered a gritty 68 off 86 balls in the final ODI as the tourists eventually won the Super Over. Meanwhile, Fatima had a terrific performance as she finished as the leading wicket-taker with six wickets from three games at an average of 28.67.

Meanwhile, West Indies announced their squad for the series last month. The players will assemble in Dubai for a one-week preparatory camp from Saturday, April 6. The three 50-over matches are a part of the ODI Women's Championship.

It goes without saying that Maroof and Fatima are two key players for the Asian side. The former has played 133 ODIs and 140 T20Is and was the first Pakistani women's cricketer to score 1,000 runs in the 50-over format. Fatima, on the other hand, made her international debut in 2017 and has played 15 ODIs and five T20Is for the national team. Fans will be hoping for their speedy recovery ahead of the series against the West Indies.
