Former Pakistan cricketer Umar Gul has accused Shadab Khan of "faking" his injury against South Africa in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Pakistan all-rounder Shadab hit his head on the ground while trying to run out Quinton de Kock during South Africa's chase in Chennai on October 27. After some attention from the physiotherapist, Shadab walked off the field as a precaution for a concussion injury. However, seeing his injury, Gul had his doubts.
“We dont know what kind of injury he had, but several questions are raised. Questions are raised when you fall, make an excuse of a concussion, walk out, physio checks you, and after a while you talk to people on the sidelines, then go inside again,” Umar Gul said on a Pakistan news channel.
