CP Rizwan's cricketing journey is a testament to his unwavering determination. Despite facing setbacks, he has remained committed to the game and continues to strive for success. Earlier in 2023, Rizwan lost both the UAE captaincy and his place in the national team. Many thought that this would mark the end of his cricketing career. However, Rizwan had other plans.

After the coaching change that left the UAE cricket team in disarray, Rizwan's form mirrored the team's struggles. He eventually lost the captain's position during a crucial World Cup League 2 series in Dubai. Although he initially made the squad for a tour to Nepal, he lost his spot in the starting XI.

Despite these setbacks, Rizwan's commitment to the game remained unshaken. He embarked on a journey to the United States to play in Minor League Cricket. However, just as his team, the East Bay Blazers, were making waves in the competition, he received news that his newborn son, Hud, was hospitalised, and he flew back to the UAE to be with his family.

Once his son's health stabilised, Rizwan rescheduled his return to the US, where the Blazers were set to compete in the playoffs. He emphasised the importance of family before boarding his flight.

Despite not being a part of the national team, Rizwan's cricket calendar remains busy. After his Minor League Cricket stint, he will join the ILT20 development tournament in Dubai, hoping to catch the eye of franchises. Rizwan is determined to make a strong comeback for both the national team and the ILT20.

“I’m looking forward to that as it is one of the key platforms for us to put our case forward again, I want to do very well in that tournament and, Inshallah, make a comeback for the national team and also [get selected] for the ILT20, I am playing and training hard, doing fitness and skill training whenever I can," Rizwan said as quoted by The National News.

With the UAE cricket team focusing on young talent, Rizwan remains undeterred. He draws inspiration from cricket legend Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to a World Cup title at the age of 38. Rizwan firmly believes that age is not a barrier if one's performance and fitness are up to par.

“I just want to do the things best which are in my control so I can put up my case again. I am looking forward to serving UAE cricket again. I want to do that to the best of my ability, I have always kept big goals. When you have bigger goals, there will be obstacles and roadblocks, but that is all part of the journey. Still, my goals are to become one of the best UAE players. I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead. I am sure better things are on the way,” Rizwan added.
