In the midst of speculations surrounding his future, legendary English paceman James Anderson has quashed retirement rumours, asserting that he still feels passionate about the game. Despite getting just four wickets in the three Ashes Tests this summer, the 41-year-old pacer remained focused on contributing to the team's success.

Amid the uncertainties, Anderson credits the support received from the coach and captain, indicating that they want him to remain a part of the squad. Acknowledging his desire for a more significant impact on the series, Anderson expressed his frustration, but he remains optimistic. "I still feel like I'm bowling well," he asserted in his column for The Telegraph.

The veteran cricketer recognised that in the past, discussions might have centered on whether he should be dropped from the team, but now the focus is on his future.

Anderson values Test cricket, and remains positive despite lean series

Test cricket continues to hold a special place in Anderson's heart, and he cherishes the last 14 months as his favourite period as an England player. "There are no thoughts about retirement," he emphasised.

However, he admitted that had he has been bowling poorly, lacking pace, and struggling in the field; retirement might have been a consideration.

The seasoned paceman remained positive despite not getting the desired results in the Ashes series. He acknowledged that lean patches are part of the game and that every player goes through them. Anderson recounted his experience at Old Trafford, where he felt he bowled well but didn't get the wickets he aimed for.

Anderson highlighted the importance of teamwork and how his tight spells created pressure that allowed other bowlers to capitalise on it. He expressed his availability for the fifth Test at The Oval, reaffirming his commitment to supporting the team and contributing to a potential victory.
