We don't feel any pressure in terms of trying to win an ICC trophy: Rahul Dravid

India head coach Rahul Dravid believes that the Rohit Sharma-led side isn’t under any sort of pressure ahead of the World Test Championship final against Australia, which is slated to begin on June 7 at The Oval. The 50-year-old meanwhile stated that for the first time, the hype surrounding an ICC event is less as media briefings are mostly about Ashes 2023.

Notably, the Indian team reached London in three batches and trained hard in order to get accustomed to the foreign conditions. However, unlike other times, the buzz in England was mostly about England’s one-off Test against Ireland and partly about FA Cup final, and thus, the Indian cricketers haven’t faced the pressure around clinching an ICC Trophy, something that's long due for them now.

Dravid meanwhile added that reaching to WTC final is a culmination of two year’s hard work and no one can take that away even if India fails to win the summit clash. However, he mentioned that the team will give their all in order to win their first ICC trophy in almost ten years.

“No, not at all (whether the Indian team is under any sort of pressure). I mean, we don't feel any pressure in terms of trying to win an ICC trophy. Of course, it would be nice to do it. It's certainly nice to be able to win an ICC tournament. But also in the context of things, you look at this and you see this is the culmination of two years of work, it's a culmination of a lot of success that gets you here. So there's a lot of positives to take from that to see where you stand on the table, winning series in Australia, drawing series here, being very competitive everywhere that this team has played in the world over the last five or six years.

"Those are things that will never change just because you have or you don't have an ICC trophy. That's really the bigger picture. But, of course, it's nice to be able to lift any game of cricket you want to win. This happens to be like a World Test Championship final and it would be nice to get them on the right side of the result,” Dravid was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
