In Rajasthan Royals’ last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2023, the Sanju Samson-led side dominated the opponents for the majority of the game, but in the final delivery, the tables completely turned upside down. Sandeep Sharma bowled a brilliant yorker as Jos Buttler picked up an easy catch at long-off, but unfortunately, the umpire called it a no-ball as the replay showed that the pacer had overstepped. In the following delivery, Abdul Samad hit a six as SRH ended up winning the match by four wickets.

Talking about the same, former India pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji stated that Sandeep will be regretting the no-ball forever as it will definitely be playing on his mind in the future. Notably, the 41-year-old mentioned that Sharma has done the job for RR previously, but this time, the no-ball cost him.

“If we recollect the last over against CSK, Sandeep was able to pull back the game in the last three balls. Here he had another opportunity, but unfortunately, that no ball cost him. He held his nerve and was able to keep things simple until the last ball was bowled.

“For a moment, he thought the match was over, but the sound of the siren came in a disheartening way. He will be regretting the no-ball forever. This one delivery will definitely be playing in his mind,” Balaji told Star Sports after the match.

Balaji lauds Glenn Phillips for his valuable contribution against RR

With Harry Brook available, New Zealand stumper-batter Glenn Phillips wasn’t getting a lot of opportunities to showcase his talent. However, against RR, the team management decided to drop Brook for Phillips, and the latter proved his value with 25 runs off seven deliveries. Following this, Balaji lauded the cricketer and expects the SRH management to keep the faith.

“I thought Glenn Phillips is a kind of player, who can take on the bowlers. Probably, SRH decided Phillips to go in the last three overs when you are chasing a big total. He made absolutely great connection with the ball and I am sure and that had helped the Sunrisers to have hope in their batting lineup,” Balaji said.
