With the 10th edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 scheduled to be underway from August 17, the franchises have started announcing their player retentions. The tournament will be played in Barbados, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago from August 17 to September 24.
Meanwhile, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots have announced their player retentions, securing likes of Evin Lewis, Andre Fletcher, Sherfane Rutherford, Dominic Drakes, Sheldon Cottrell, and Joshua Da Silva. Furthermore, Patriots also roped in Windies pacer Oshane Thomas after he was transferred from Barbados Royals. The overseas players and the draft picks of the competition will be announced at the draft show, which is scheduled to be held in June.
Furthermore, Guyana Amazon Warriors confirmed their player retentions with Shimron Hetmyer making his return to the side. Their retentions included Odean Smith, Romario Shepherd, Shai Hope, Keemo Paul, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Gudakesh Motie, Matthew Nandu and Junior Sinclair.
The CPL 2023 will kick off with Jamaica Tallawahs taking on St. Lucia Kings on August 17 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia. The CPL 2022 was won by the Rovman Powell-led Jamaica Tallawahs after they defeated Barbados Royals by eight wickets.
