The 40th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 saw bottom-placed Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad go against each other at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 29. Thanks to a brilliant batting performance, Hyderabad managed to post 197 in the first innings.
During the run chase, Delhi looked to be in control as despite losing skipper David Warner cheaply, Phil Salt and Mitchell Marsh played resilient knocks to stabilise the innings. Having scored 105 runs in the first 10 overs, the hosts looked to be the favourites to win the game. However, Hyderabad made a quick comeback by taking five wickets in the next seven overs, turning the tide of the match and winning the game by nine runs.
As Hyderabad made a fabulous comeback to win the game, skipper Aiden Markram came forward to reflect upon the performance. "Great team effort, good to see the guys show good skill and character. I don’t mind getting things wrong if the approach is right. It helps to see such performances; the guys will see that results are there to be had. Credit to the way the team has responded," Markram said in the post-match press conference.

Markram also reflected on the individual performances of the players. Notably, Abhishek Sharma got the visitors off to a great start in the first innings, as he amassed 67 runs in just 36 deliveries. The Sunrisers skipper also talked about the knock of Heinrich Klassen, who scored an unbeaten 53 off 27 balls.
"Klassy has been in great form, and Abhishek did the hard work early on. Klassy backs himself to play that way, good to see it pay off. We needed wickets to get back in the game; the two were doing well, and it needed a special catch from Mayank. Fortunately, the ball was stopping a bit, and the bowlers showed great character to execute their spoils. This win will give great confidence; now we travel back home and try to build on this," Markram siad.
