Ahead of this year's highly anticipated Ashes, legendary Australian pacer Glenn McGrath has showered praise on England's veteran fast-bowling duo James Anderson and Stuart Broad. The former Aussie quick reckoned that the records set by Anderson and Broad wouldn't be beaten anytime soon, remembering his partnership with the iconic Shane Warne. 

England's veteran fast bowling duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad are showing no signs of slowing as they recently became the most successful pair in Test cricket, surpassing Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne's previous record of 1001 wickets in the longest format of the game. McGrath praised the duo for their longevity and acknowledged their greatness, along with a sly dig at the fast-bowling duo.

"They are setting records that will never be beaten. Warnie and I had a great career together. We marked the anniversary of his passing recently and it still hits you pretty hard. He was a once-in-a-generation player. But congratulations to Jimmy and Broady. They are an incredible partnership. They did take a couple more Tests than Shane and I, though,” said McGrath to the Daily Mail.

Talking about the upcoming Ashes series in England, McGrath reserved high praise for Ben Stokes' side. The former Australian cricketer admitted that he was part of a fearless Test side but the current English team under Brendon McCullum's tutelage have taken the game to the next level with their relentless approach.

"I might be a bit tongue-in-cheek. Australia have not won a series in England since 2001. They will need to start well. They can't let England go 1-0 up with the way England are playing at the moment. If you play without fear, it's amazing what you can achieve. The Australian team I played in played with a lot of freedom and we backed ourselves, but England have taken it to the next level,” McGrath added.
