Adelaide Oval is set to host a day Test match between Australia and the West Indies, next season, in mid-January, after going through compromises to grab New Year’s Test from Sydney.
Talking about the Adelaide Test, it will be played between Australia and the West Indies in mid-January before the final game of the season to be organised at the Gabba towards the end of January.
According to the information shared by senior sources to The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald, the Test summer is likely to kick off with Australia hosting Pakistan in Perth in mid-December, before the Boxing Day Test and Pink Test in Melbourne and Sydney respectively.

Before sealing this deal with Cricket Australia, The South Australia government and cricket association had submitted three plans to CA for an eight-year pact on Adelaide Tests. The first one was for eight years of New Year’s Tests, another for eight years for Christmas Tests in December, and the last for a mid-January game next summer and seven years of mid-December fixtures to be followed.
Of all three plans, the third one is most likely to be accepted as CA’s wish to balance reward for generating revenue by attracting large crowds at the Adelaide Oval consistently through Test matches nationally.
After this plan, CA is looking forward to releasing a huge amount on the table after holding talks with the states and the Australian Cricketers’ Association about the amount of cash in the sport after signing a $1.5 billion broadcast deal with Foxtel and Seven in January.
Meanwhile, Australia will look to defeat India in the fourth and final Test to level the series 2-2. They have already qualified for the upcoming World Test Championship final to be played at The Oval in June.
