PSL 2023: Season 8 to continue in Lahore and Rawalpindi as planned after PCB and Punjab government come to mutual agreement

The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) will continue to run as planned in Rawalpindi and Lahore as the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Punjab government have come to a mutual agreement after hours of deliberation.

PCB chief Najam Sethi shared the news with fans as he put out a tweet on the micro-blogging site Twitter regarding the same. "Good news: CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi Saheb has been kind enough to agree to share cost of lighting routes during PSL matches in Lahore. HBl PSL8 matches in Lahore and Pindi shall continue as scheduled," the tweet read.

PCB chief also went on to thank the prime minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif for helping in settling the dispute with the Punjab govt. regarding PSL  season eight security issue.

There was an ongoing tension between the PCB and the Punjab govt. pertaining to sharing the cost of lighting routes during the PSL fixtures in Lahore. If reports are to be believed, then the Punjab govt. was asking the apex cricket governing body in the country to pay PKR 450 million involving the security arrangements made for the PSL games.

As per the government, the original cost was around PKR 900 million, but the administration had revised the same and was willing to pay half the amount and asking the Sethi-led PCB to pay the other half of the sum. But the PCB was against paying any sum, maintaining their stance on the belief that the cost of providing the security remains the responsibility of the provincial government.
