Sarfaraz Khan’s father Naushad has narrated how Sarfaraz touched his heart by saying him a heartwarming line. Khan has been on the rise in domestic cricket and has been scoring runs for fun. He has become a key batter for Mumbai and is a vital cog in the Mumbai line-up in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. He has been knocking on the Indian Test team door for quite a while now but hasn’t been called up to the team.
Khan has scored over 500 runs at an excellent average and has helped Mumbai a lot to win games in the Ranji Trophy this season. Over the past three seasons of the Ranji trophy , Sarafraz has amassed over 2000 runs. As a result, there is a lot of talk around him being in the Test squad in spite of vacancies opening up in his preferred spot.
The cricketer has played with a number of great cricketers till now in his career but his father narrated a story when the Mumbai batter played with the fellow Mumbai-mate, Arjun, who also happens to be the son of the legendary Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.
Naushad stated that when Sarfaraz Khan went for junior games, he used to play and meet Arjun Tendulkar. One day, a young Sarfaraz came to his dad and said (as quoted by The Indian Express), “Abbu, Arjun kitna naseeb wala haina? He has everything in life like cars, ipads, etc.” Naushad was helpless and didn’t say anything.
Khan then came back and gave his dad a tight hug and added that, “I am more fortunate than him because my dad gets to spend the whole day with me. Arjun’s father can’t spend enough time with him."
Interestingly, the bonding between Sarfaraz and his father has been evidently strong, as the youngster gets constant inputs from the latter before and during crucial matches.
