Ishan Kishan had one of the dream days for a youngster as he brought up his maiden double century in ODIs against Bangladesh in the final game at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The 24-year-old took the opportunity at the top of the order with both hands after skipper Rohit Sharma was ruled out after suffering a thumb injury.

In fact, Kishan’s double ton turned out to be the quickest double hundred in ODI history. The left-hander took just 126 deliveries to complete his double century and joined an elite list of cricketers who have scored double centuries for India in ODIs. Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma are the only other Indian cricketers to achieve the feat.

Batting on 199, Kishan was quite focused on getting to the landmark and he dug out a yorker to get it into the cover's region. He went for the ‘jumping in air’ celebration once he got to the landmark and the whole dugout including the dressing room, were up on their feet to acknowledge the moment.

Kohli played the perfect foil at the other end with some exquisite boundaries and he celebrated alongside Kishan in an eye-catching way once the latter got to his double ton. The two batters were spotted doing their Bollywood dance moves and the former Indian captain looked quite happy for the youngster.

Meanwhile, Kishan was finally dismissed for a mammoth 210 off just 131 balls and the wicketkeeper-batter hit 24 fours and ten sixes in his mind-blowing innings. The prolific batter showed no mercy to any of the Bangladesh bowlers and ensured he pressed on the accelerator once he got to the century.

Kishan’s double century has placed India in an excellent position to post a daunting total. Kohli who had the best seat in the house when Kishan went bang-bang, has also reached a fantastic century.
