Australia battered South Africa in the second Test at the MCG to claim a memorable series victory, and with the series already in the bag, the home side are looking to unleash young speedster, Lance Morris, against the Proteas at the SCG. The youngster was included in the Australian squad as a cover for veteran pacer Mithcell Starc ahead of the three-match series.

Lance Morris' call-up to the national team was no fluke, as he has been in scintillating form in the domestic circuit, rattling opposition batters with his electric pace. With injuries to Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc in the second Test, Morris is likely to make his big bow in the upcoming series finale at the SCG. The 24-year-old, quite expectedly, was excited at the prospect of making his debut for the national side in Sydney.

“It’s honestly a whirlwind. It’s kind of hard to wrap my head around and there’s a little bit of nervous energy, but I guess that means something exciting could happen. I’m looking at it that way,” Morris said before flying from Melbourne to Sydney with the squad on Saturday.

Lance Morris praised Anrich Nortje's fiery bowling spell at the MCG

The youngster, nicknamed 'Wild Thing' because of his searing pace, was in awe of Anrich Nortje's sizzling bowling display at the MCG in the second Test. He hailed it as one of the best bowling performances by a bowler in recent times. He is looking forward to a battle with the Protean pace merchant but acknowledged that Nortje might be a bit quicker than him at the moment.

“That’d be nice. I think he’s probably got me at the moment, but that’s definitely something to strive to. I was seriously impressed watching the last Test. I honestly would say that’s probably one of the better spells of bowling I’ve seen just taking into consideration the conditions. It was 37 degrees, or something like that, and he was averaging over 150, so it was pretty impressive,” he added.
