Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have had contrasting campaigns so far in the T20 World Cup 2022. Zimbabwe stunned the Pakistani side in their previous encounter to register a major upset and held on to their nerves in a thrilling encounter while the rain gods played a big part in their first Super 12 fixture against South Africa and helped them a point in a game they were about to lose. They have had impressive performances right from the qualifiers which has been a major confidence booster.
On the other hand, Bangladesh came into the tournament with a disappointing performance in Asia Cup 2022 and also the recent Tri-Series in New Zealand. They weren’t clinical enough against Netherlands in the first game, suffering a massive defeat against South Africa in their next encounter. On that note, Habibul Bashar noted the lessons that his former side can learn from Zimbabwe.
Give your best shot against any opposition or in any situation: Habibul Bashar
Bashar noted that Bangladesh needs to be more confident in their approach and highlighted the importance of a good group of players. He further mentioned that Bangladesh can learn from Zimbabwe on how to give the best shot against any opposition. He concluded by lauding Zimbabwe for improving a lot and not giving up.
“You need to more confident and more consistent in things you do. Yes, it is very important to have a very good group of cricketers who play for each other and support each other. This kind of stuff is quite important in major tournaments. A lot of things you can always learn from other teams,” Habibul Bashar told on 'BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti' on CricTracker.
“Zimbabwe isn’t a top side but they keep improving a bit and they keep coming back. So that’s the lesson Bangladesh can take from Zimbabwe. The other thing is they (Zimbabwe) don’t give up whoever team you play against, whatever situation you have, (they) give the best shot. That’s what probably one thing needed in the tournament to be successful and Bangladesh can take that from Zimbabwe,” he added.
