Suryakumar Yadav has been in supreme form in the T20I format in recent times and his battle with Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan for the top spot in the Men’s rankings has escalated. The right-hander finished with 119 runs in the three T20Is against South Africa recently and ended up as the top run scorer for the Rohit Sharma led-side. He had the chance to go past Rizwan with another defining knock in the final T20I against South Africa, but instead fell early for just eight runs in Indore.
Currently, Suryakumar is at the second spot with 16 rating points behind Rizwan while Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is at the third position. The first spot could well be up for grabs in the upcoming ICC T2O World Cup and it will be interesting to see if the wicketkeeper-batter from Pakistan can continue on his rich vein of form.
Rizwan infact, finished as the top run scorer in the recent seven-match T20I against England and his great form in the first five games had increased the gap between him and Suryakumar. However, the right-hander was rested for the sixth T20I and his return in the final game yielded just one run to the tally. This had brought a big chance for the Indian prolific batter to move to the top.
Rilee Rossouw, David Miller move up in Rankings
Rilee Rossouw’s unbeaten century in the third T20I helped him to move 23 spots to the 20th position in the ICC rankings while David Miller moved up ten spots to 29th in the rankings. KL Rahul took a giant leap by climbing seven spots to 14th in the rankings after his stupendous display in the first two games against South Africa.
As far as the T20I series in Pakistan, Ben Duckett moved up eight spots to 24th in the rankings, while Dawid Malan’s good form got him to the fifth position in the rankings.
