The recent India-Pakistan game in the T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 stages was a massive boost to the entire tournament and the fans are yet to recover from a game of that sort. India’s Virat Kohli played a blinder of a knock to take the men in blue home and the emotions went flying after the game in the stadium. The 90,000-crowd capacity for the match was something extraordinary in Australia and no wonder, they are discussing on hosting an India-Pakistan Test match.
Earlier, it was England who offered the boards to play a Test match in their country. The two nations haven’t played a bilateral series since long time and recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah was quite clear about India not travelling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 despite the other nations touring the neighbour country. Former Australian all-rounder Simon O'Donnell has now unfolded about the possibility of India-Pakistan games taking place in Australia.
It was magnificent sort of stuff, to the level that discussions had started: Simon O'Donnell
Donnell mentioned the aftermath of the India-Pakistan game at the streets as the fans haven’t dropped their energy levels while speaking about the drama unfolding. He went on to note that discussions have now started over hosting an India-Pakistan Test as well as a Tri-Series in place between India, Pakistan and Australia.
"That (their T20 World Cup clash) was extraordinary. That game itself is the one that's held the tournament up so far, people keep referring back to it. There was 90,000 at a neutral venue, there was extraordinary emotion, the scenes of the game, the tightness of the game, the pressure,” O'Donnell said on SEN Breakfast.
"It was magnificent sort of stuff, to the level that I can say there will be discussions being had, or there are discussions being had to play a Test match here.”
"There's also the possibility of a triangular One-Day series between India, Pakistan and Australia or a Test match between India and Pakistan.”
"My word there are (conversations happening), in the wake of this (T20 World Cup clash). There are already discussions taking place," he added.
