Team India will take on Pakistan in its opening encounter of the 2022 T20 World Cup. The match will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23 (Sunday). Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has said that he has already finalized the playing XI for the much-awaited clash.

Rohit said that he wants to give the players ample time to prepare for the encounter against the arch-rivals. The Indian skipper also said the T20 game is changing fast as teams have become fearless and try to dominate the game every time they take the field.

We want to keep our boys informed about team selection before so that they can prepare early: Rohit Sharma

“I don’t believe in last-minute decisions. We want to keep our boys informed about team selection before so that they can prepare early. I already have my XI for the Pakistan match. Already those players are informed. I don’t believe in a last-minute thing. I want them to prepare well. We understand the importance of the India vs Pakistan match but there is no point in talking every time, even when we met during Asia Cup, we keep talking about the families, which cars do you have,” Rohit Sharma said in all-skipper press conference ahead of T20 WC.

“Teams have become fearless and we’re looking to adopt the same approach. 140 used to be a winning total back then but now teams aim to reach there in 14-15 overs,” he added.

Team India is missing the services of its ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami has replaced Bumrah in the 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup. Shami has proven his worth in the white-ball format as he is a genuine wicket-taker. Rohit said that he is looking forward to seeing Shami bowl in the upcoming practice session on Sunday.

“Mohammed Shami I haven’t seen but whatever I have heard it is good. We have a practice session in Brisbane on Sunday and I am looking forward to seeing Shami,” said the India captain.
